Zion Church - Angaston
The congregation of Zion church in Angaston was formed and held church services in private homes and other places 10 years before building their church.
In 1913 their first small church on Hill Street was finished and the dedication ceremony was attended by 75 members of the congregation.
The outbreak of World War 1 saw the church congregation go through a tumultuous time as people retaliated to the Germans and threatened to burn the church to the ground.
Many members left the church during this time.
In 1941 the church burned down in the early hours of the morning, it was not deliberate however it left the entire congregation with nowhere to Goan d worship.
One week later the Baptist church in Angaston was offered to them and renovation plans were promptly made.
After seven months of hard labour the new church was finished and dedicated on the 28th of September, 1941.
