Pilgrim's Church - Neukirch
The history of the pilgrim’s church is very similar to that of the ebenezer church.
It was settled around the same period of time.
The Neukirch congregation came about due to a suspected unrest/divide of the Ebenezer Congregation.
This group transferred from their place of worship, Ebenezer, to the home of Adam Bartsch in 1848.
This new congregation called on pastor HAE Meyer to serve them.
The growing congregation soon warranted a church, and so the new church was built. Dedicated on Sunday, May, 1859.
The Neukirch Pilgrim church was roofed with a straw thatched roof for 47 years until 1906 when it was replaced with an iron roof.
The original stone slab was replaced with concrete. There was no ceiling in the church until 1909.
In August 1925 more extensive improvements conducted.
Entrance porch was built and the erection of a choir gallery.
In 1939 the church was named, previously nameless, on the 75th anniversary it was decided to honour the fathers of the church it was given the name ‘Pilgre Kirche’ pilgrim church.
