Neukirch

The explorer Captain Charles Sturt passed through the area on his famous journey to Central Australia in August 1844.

A monument was erected on the Kaunda-Truro main road in 1844 near where he stayed overnight at the home of Captain and

Mrs Bagot, now the property of Leon and Mavis Nietschke.

Early history of the Neukirch Township is linked with that of the St. John's congregation at Ebenezer.

The original party of settlers arrived in 1852.

The area was renamed DinChurch due to the happenings of the First World War and was used and recognised for many years after.
