St. Michael's Church - Marananga (Gnadenfrei)
The Gnadenfrei area was entitled around 1845-1850 by German Lutherans.
These people worshipped at Langmeil church until they decided to form a congregation of their own.
They built a small house where they worshipped together in 1850.
When the congregation could no longer fit inside the hut plans where made for a new church.
The old building was demolished and the new church built and dedicated in 1873.
In 1913 some extensions were made to the building, the building of the tower, and addition of a large bell and the enlargement of the church.
St Michaels is located on a hill on Seppeltsfield Road.
The name Gnadenfrei means ‘freed by the grace of God’.
