St. Peter's Church - Keyneton
Many of the St. Peter's congregation from Keyneton originated from Langmeil who then came to North Rhine, now known as Keyneton.
It was in 1850 that the first families settled in the area that soon followed by more families from 1854 to 1855.
With the growing population of the area they formed their own congregation and built a church that was dedicated in 1857.
As the population of the town and congregation kept growing a larger space for worship was needed so a bigger church was built on the same land.
It was dedicated in 1866.
The old church was then used as a school and still stands today.
A bell made in ‘Kleinvelka, Germany’ was bought in 1874 and put outside the church on top of a high gum tree.
