Immanuel Church - Truro
In 1937 a meeting was held in Truro, deciding upon the need for a church to be built in the village.
The persons in attendance decided that there was a need for a Lutheran Church in Truro.
It is believed that approximately 18 people attended the first service of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Truro, which was held in the Soldier's Memorial Hall on the 7th of February, 1937.
Three years later and the congregation had grown to 52 members, listed in the church records.
The members of the church wanted to build a church of their own since 1938 but when World War Two began this ceased all planning because of the shortage of materials.
In 1952 Church plans were once again drawn up and this time accepted.
Construction began soon after.
The building was dedicated in 1955 and named Immanuel, meaning 'God is with us'.
